Carmina fati (2004)
CARA Award Winner 2005: Best Classical Album and Best Classical Song (“Madrigal II”)
"Songs of fate" is the title of this CD which was released in 2004. On this CD we encompass a very large span of time. Settings of the Ordinarium Missae from the beginnings of polyphonic music (Guillaume de Machaut) to the outstanding composers of the Renaissance era Orlando di Lasso and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina are contrasted with romantic and contemporary compositions. Some of those pieces are written especially for Calmus. They are based on poems by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Dietrich Bonhoeffer et al. whose contents gave the CD its title.
