Singing Bach only with five voices and a cappella is no easy feat and involves some fundamental decisions. We need to make the works compatible for Calmus. We transpose if necessary. We text basso continuo parts to make them singable. We do everything without choral reinforcement and colla parte instruments and sing the music in the most minimalist way—everything is scored individually. We also access organ and piano works and turn them into vocal versions. But we are not changing the stream. Not a single note has been deleted, changed or added—only original tones and complete movements are heard.
