Welcome Stefan!

As of today, Stefan Kahle is our new countertenor. He is succeeding founding member Sebastian Krause, who, after 19 years and 1111 concerts within Calmus, is going on to new adventures in the huge fields of computer sience. Stefan was a member of the St. Thomas Boy’s Choir and studied vocal performance at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland). After the 8th change of the line-up, Ludwig is the one and only staying founding member in the group. Check out the history of the Calmus singers here.

Sebastian’s successor is announced - please welcome Stefan Kahle!

Stefan Kahle

Following a busy season with concerts in Belgium, France, Austria, throughout Germany and three US tours, Sebastian will sing his final concert with Calmus in August and will leave after being the countertenor in the group since its first days 19 years ago. While we are obviously sad to say goodbye to Sebastian, we are also very happy to announce that Stefan Kahle will be the new countertenor of Calmus! After an intense audition process, Stefan completely convinced us all with his stunning voice and engaging personality, and we’re really looking forward to the next chapter for Calmus starting in September 2019, celebrating our 20thAnniversary season!

Stefan Kahle was born in 1992 and, like Sebastian and Ludwig, he has his musical roots in the St. Thomas Boys Choir, where he was a member from 2003 until 2011. After his time as a chorister, Stefan moved to Basel (Switzerland) to study vocal performance with Prof. Gerd Türk at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. For several years, he has been performing regularly as a soloist and ensemble singer in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and now it is our pleasure to welcome him as a member of Calmus starting next season.

New CD "Christmas Carols of the World" is out now!

We are thrilled to announce that our latest CD "Christmas Carols of the World" is out now!

When the summer heat shimmers above the vastness of the Australian bushland, when slay bells ring joyfully through the snow covered forest of Estonia, when people in Mexico portray the pilgrimage of Mary and Joseph, and families in Denmark dance around the Christmas tree, then it is Christmas time, then the whole world celebrates and sings.

We have recorded a selection of the most beautiful Christmas carols from all over the world exclusively for this CD collection. The CD contains carols from Denmark, Germany, England, France, Ireland, Croatia, North America, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Sweden and Spain as well as "Silent Night" in several languages.

With this recording the prize-winning "Liederprojekt", promoting singing with children, is being continued.
